Terms of Service
Last updated: March 2, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the SchemaChat web application ("Service") operated by SchemaChat ("we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Description of Service
SchemaChat is a conversational database schema designer that uses artificial intelligence to help you design normalized database schemas. The Service includes AI-powered schema generation, interactive ERD visualization, and SQL/code export capabilities.
2. Account Registration
To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information when creating your account.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its related systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
- Circumvent rate limits, usage quotas, or other protective measures
- Use automated tools to excessively access the Service (scraping, bots, etc.)
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
- Share your account credentials with third parties
4. Intellectual Property
Your Content
You retain all ownership rights to the database schemas, SQL output, and other content you create using the Service. We claim no intellectual property rights over your content.
Our Service
The Service, including its design, code, features, and documentation, is owned by SchemaChat and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, logos, or brand features.
5. AI-Generated Content
The Service uses AI models provided by Anthropic to generate schema suggestions and responses. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors or suboptimal recommendations. You are responsible for reviewing and validating all schema designs before using them in production systems. The Service is provided as a design tool, not a substitute for professional database architecture review.
6. Service Availability
We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the Service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with reasonable notice. Scheduled maintenance will be communicated in advance when possible.
7. Usage Limits
The Service includes usage limits based on your subscription tier, including limits on AI messages, project counts, and API requests. These limits are designed to ensure fair usage and service quality for all users. Current limits are displayed in your account dashboard.
8. Data and Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Shared Schemas
The Service allows you to share schemas via unique share links. When you create a share link, anyone with that link can view your schema in read-only mode. You are responsible for managing access to your share links. You can revoke a share link at any time through the Service.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SchemaChat shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, secure, or available at all times.
12. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason with reasonable notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. You may export your data before termination using the built-in export features.
13. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, providing additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which SchemaChat operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.
